Hello World! Welcome to my website!

Blog #24: It's new year's 2004 and I am happy!

Maybe you saw my latest adventure on MySpace? Either way it doesn't matter, go see the photos at my hyperlink below! By the way I am typing this out on my brand new PC, have a look:

I've never really had the opportunity to create a website before. My old PC just wasn't powerful enough! But this baby cranks four core's-worth a' 2800MHz like a hot knife through butter, and that's without pressing the Turbo Button! (JK, the Turbo button paradoxically slows down the PC's clock speed for historical software compatibility reasons. A little-known fun fact for you there, Ray Tech Tips if you will.) I'm rockin' dual-channel, 2x512MB RAM so I can killer multitask too. Had to take out one of the CD-ROM drives though cause it died on me. It was a hand-me-down, I just liked the look of having two honestly! But I only need the main one anyway. It's a DVD-ROM drive, and I can watch movies from Blockbuster in full 480p on this beast no problems! I wish I could show you my widescreen monitor as well but my camera is full and it won't clear the SD. Stupid sync software over the serial link doesn't work properly either. Ugh, some things just never change!

Still though, there are lots of things to talk about besides my new PC. It's a new year after all! Specifically tons of interesting things happened recently in tech. Which is, y'know, what this blog is about. I'm looking forward to new advances in video and audio streaming. Awesome prototypes at CES, with companies showing off all sorts of crazy gadgets. Playing media files over your local network or even accessing the internet via an application store, right from the comfort of your TV, thanks to a smart DVD player running Java? Smart-speakers that can play audio together like a mesh-network and announce the weather and the time for you too? Heck in a few years, everyone will have a 1080p HDTV, pixels so small you can't even see them from normal viewing distance, more clear than anything we've ever seen before, it's like real life! Damn, I feel like it's 2020 already with all this stuff. Where are the flying cars!?

Also, heard rumors of this new PDA/all-in-one phone idea being toyed with by a few companies. Like a feature phone but with expandable storage or something. And it'll probably 'keep you truly connected' or whatever the latest marketing crap is. Yeah I don't buy it. Been there done that. Everybody fawns over Blackberries but I don't see the appeal. Sure, it looks sorta neat, but the keyboard's total garbage, and why the heck would I want to text people on that tiny screen all day anyway, when I could just call them instead? Useful for the text copy-paste capabilities I guess, but that's about it. So unless they or someone else can majorly raise the bar on the whole 'mobile application store' deal beyond a poorly thought out gimmick, which let's face it, isn't gonna happen on a little battery powered paperweight that small even with space-age technology, it's all just another useless shiny plastic status-symbol as far as I'm concerned.
