Wildland Fire Research and Monitoring
Fire Management Concepts has over two decades of experience in conducting formal research and monitoring activities for federal agencies. We have developed numerous monitoring programs for pre and post prescribed fire effects on fuels, vegetation, forage and wildlife. We have extensive experience in the design of monitoring programs in different fuel types and environments including forest, range, chaparral and wetland vegetation types.
We can design short or long term monitoring projects utilizing various sampling procedures including line transects or fixed plots, for both short or long term fire effects or fuels monitoring programs. Data sets will be collected according to the level of statistical significance desired. Data collection will include Global Positioning utilizing GPS receivers for all fixed plots and transects, with coordinates of plots and transects recorded within GIS map data sets. Digital photography to document the monitoring program will be included for long term archiving of program accomplishments.
